A robbery with a hostage situation occurred some time ago in the National Bank branch on the beach of Distomo Boeotia.

Early reports speak of three armed individuals who probably abducted the cashier as hostage.

The robbery seems reminiscent of terrorism, thus the Counter Terrorism Unit has immediately called for a thorough briefing.

The robbery took place around 14.30 in the afternoon, with the three perpetrators armed to the teeth with AK-47s. They escaped in a silver jeep, which Police later found burned by the wayside. It is probable that the criminals escaped in a speedboat waiting for them in a nearby beach.

The hostage was finally set free around one hour later.
