The Minister of Education Mr. Andreas Loverdos clarified to the Cultural Affairs Committee of the Parliament that there will be no dismissals of the administrators of the eight universities which got suspended.
Earlier was presented a report by the external evaluator who studied the structures of the eight universities and found that not only there no need for redundancy but some parts are understaffed.
It is worth mentioning that 1,160 administrators had been dismissed in eight universities and today have opened up new jobs for the 600. With the results of the report the remaining 560 employees are “saved” as well.
Under these facts Mr. Loverdos stated that “That is the review, and No! There will be no redundancies “.Further, he added that “i do not shoot people in cold blood”.
However, tensions between the Minister and Members of SYRIZA were created when Mr. Mihalis Kritsotakis asked from Mr. Loverdo “to express his personal opinion on the assessment and take responsibility for its conclusions. To evaluate the assessment. ”
The minister responded by saying that the opposition seems “to be upset from the fact that there will be no layoffs. SYRIZA wanted layoffs to take place.
