Today the Greek Minister of Culture Mr. Kostas Tasoulas on the issue of the excavations in Ancient Amphipolis recommended patience while added that “the monument will speak on its self, not the scenarios”.
What we see so far is what Amphipolis is. And what we see and are proud as Greeks, is a very important and of epic proportions monument. Therefore, the monument will speak on its self, not the scenarios. That is the way archeology works, and Amfipolis will not be the exception, stated the Minister.
Further, he highlighted that : the science of archeology is a science that cannot be rushed, is a slow process and needs patience while gives us pleasure with its findings that come to light”. Mr Tasoulas added that public announcement due on Sunday.
In the question of the time schedule of the excavations in Ancient Amphipolis, the Minister stated that: ” the archeological progress cannot be estimated, since any small problems or maintenance issues can be a setback. Also, we have already reached the antechambers, so it is obvious that the work done so far is been done very well and very carefully”.
Earlier, Mr. Tasoulas referred to the recent publicity around Amphipolis as “a big opportunity for the Greek people to re-discover the charm of its culture, which is a source for new findings and encourages them to surpass the difficult times that we are facing”.
