The Telegraph: Greece will abandon the euro

The most deadly threat is the recent resurrection of the Greek debt horror, says Mr. Oborne

In an article titled “The euro is heading for disaster – what luck for David Cameron,” Peter Oborne, the Daily Telegraph’s chief political commentator, warns of a grim outlook for the Euro, following the latest political and economic developments in Greece and other European countries.

More specifically, Mr. Oborne underlines that the European Monetary Union was destined to fail from the very beginning and that the European elite who advocated the currency ignored all warnings, continuing their “experiment” which has caused depression across a large part of Europe.

According to the Telegraph’s commentator, “the Italian economy is moribund, social cohesion has vanished and Italians are starting to turn venomously on immigrants.”

As for Greece, Mr. Oborne says that the country’s economy has shrunk by 30%, and approximately one quarter of the population is out of work. Youth unemployment is also a huge problem in Spain as it has reached 50%.

“We are talking about tens of millions of ruined lives, and busted dreams,” says the article adding that, due to the crisis, new political parties have emerged from the far-Left and far-Right.

However, of all the threats Europe faces, the most “deadly” is the recent resurrection of the “Greek debt horror,” says Mr. Oborne, noting that “the country is ungovernable” and that the possibility of a spring general election caused the biggest collapse on the Athens stock market in 27 years.
