The awards ceremony of the Golden Globes, similarly to that of the Oscars, consists of two complementary but totally different phases.

The first involves the red carpet arrivals, that are sometimes impressive and other times disappointing, and the second involves the actual ceremony.

The Golden Globes are regularly viewed as a precursor to the Oscars and that same applies, more or less, for the stars’ appearances on the red carpet.
