Main opposition SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras was scheduled to travel Saturday morning to Ioannina, the largest city of Epirus province, NW Greece, as part of his ongoing pre-election campaign.
However, moments before the aircraft servicing the flight A3 160 from Eleftherios Venizelos airport could depart, a malfunction in the plane’s electrical systems forced pilots to abort the take off, so that a maintenance crew could assess the failure.
After examining the source of the malfunction, technicians judged that the problem could not be fixed immediately. Mr. Tsipras and the rest of the passengers then boarded another aircraft, which departed a few minutes later for their destination.
