Christoph Schmidt, German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s senior economic advisor, told German newspaper Westdeutschen Allgemeinen Zeitung that Athens is playing with fire and warns of a humanitarian disaster if Greece exited from the eurozone.

He invited European governments to remain steadfast in demands for the Greek government to continue with reforms.
