A man who found a digital camera on Sunday morning used social media to try and find its owner by posting a “selfie” from its memory.
The picture showed a woman and a youth smiling atop the Acropolis in central Athens.
Alex Pitropakis posted the photograph, and the rest is history.
“I have found the camera of this mother and her son taken in acropolis #Athens. I believe they are from #NYC based on the camera’s settings. Retwit regram and repost please so I can find them and give them back their camera”
In less than 48 hours his FB post had 2,100 shares, along with more than 1,000 retweets and good exposure on Instagram, too.
It was one comment on the latter social media that caught Alex Pitropoulos’ attention, however, as it read:
“Alex, that is definitely my sister. I sent you a facebook message with proof. They are in Greece, but I don’t know for how long. I am trying to get a hold of her to have her get in touch with you via facebook. Thank you so much for posting this!!!
