Looking at the exit polls just after the ballots closed in the Greek referendum, most of the viewers glued to the their TV sets were expecting a nail-biting thriller to unfold throughout the night. Most polling companies gave a slight edge to the ‘No’ vote, ranging from 2.5 per cent to 5 per cent.
A quick rundown of their projections:
Metron Analysis: NO – 52%, YES -48%
GPO: NO – 51.5%, YES – 48.5%
MARC: NO – 52%, YES – 48%
The real results were very disappointing, to say the least, with a huge 20 per cent margin in favour of the ‘NO’ vote. It was a real fiasco for the companies and a great blow to their reliability.
