EU Economic, Financial Affairs, Taxation and Customs Commissioner Pierre Moscovici gave a press conference in Greece on Wednesday. “There remains a lot of work to be done. Where there’s a will, there’s a way, and I believe that the will is there,” he said, while voicing his confidence that Greece would reach a “compromise” with creditors by the end of the week so that the Eurogroup on November 9 would be fruitful.
He said that there can be no let up on reforms and Greece must comply with its multi-billion-euro bailout terms. Asked if there was a leeway for nations tackling the brunt of a migrant crisis sweeping through eastern Europe from the middle east he said that the EC has but “one compass” that he defined as that of “the growth and stability pact, and rules should be implemented.”
Regarding Greece, he pointed to another compass that he defined as the “adoption of the memorandum of understanding and the program.” “Nothing should make us loosen these reforms,” he said.
