European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety Vytenis Andriukaitis arrived in Athens and will leave for the island Lesvos on Thursday to visit the health centers and accommodation centers of refugees and migrants.
Commissioner Andriukaitis has already met with Health Minister Andreas Xanthos and Agriculture and Food Minister Evangelos Apostolou.
The Commissioner’s first stop will be Mytilene’s health center and then UNHCR Reception Centre in Skala Sykamnias and the beach Platanos, where refugees and migrants arrive.
Before leaving Lesvos, Andriukaitis will visit the Identification and Registration Center in Moria.
On Friday, Andriukaitis will address the Greek parliament and then he will give a press conference at the European Commission offices in Athens.
