Deputy Foreign Minister Dimitris Mardas expressed the difficulty of guarding Greece’s sea borders on Sunday morning speaking to SKAI TV channel.

Mr. Mardas was asked to comment on the implementation of EU-Turkey agreement on refugee and the phone call between Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and Secretary General NATO Jens Stoltenberg, where Mr. Tsipras expressed Greece’s dissatisfaction on the fact that Turkey does not actively contributes to the reduction of refugee flow to Greece.

“NATO came to Aegean Sea and realized how difficult it is to manage the issue,” the minister said, while stating that those who talk about Greece’s exit from Schengen area are getting now the answer they deserve.

“Through political dialogue we will provide solutions, we are not alone as other states are,” Mr. Mardas continued adding that the government will proceed to financial registration of immigrants. He also stressed that “if there are some of them who are able to invest 250,000 euros in the country, they will be treated more favorably as far as obtaining a residence permit is concerned”.
