Passenger traffic in Athens International Airport (AIA) during May reached 1.8 million passengers, considerably exceeding the respective 2015 levels by 8.9%, according to official data.

Both domestic and international passengers demonstrated a substantial rise of 11.7% and 7.4% respectively.

Both Greek and foreign visitors continued their positive development, with Greeks enjoying an increase at the level of 13%, whereas foreign visitors showed a decelerated rise of 5%.

Overall, during the first five months of the year, the airport’s passenger traffic reached 6.73 million, equaling an increase of 10.4%, with domestic passengers growing by 15.8% and international travelers by 7.3%. Both Greek and foreign travelers enjoyed an increase at the level of 12% and 8% respectively.
