In the wake of the controversy caused by the government’s amendment to scrap the travel expenses limits for the PM’s and Ministers’ official state visits, Greek PM Alexis Tsipras arrived on the Aegean island of Paros to inaugurate the opening of the new airport, Friday. According to the PM’s schedule he arrived at Paros a little before 12 noon, accompanied by Transport Minister Christos Sprintzis on a special Aegean/Olympic Air flight, and is expected to return to Athens in the afternoon. Meanwhile, the PM’s office leaked a non-paper to the press over the uproar caused after revelations of the rumoured multi-day trip of 54 government officials to Paros, likening opposition party MP Adonis Georgiadis to nazi chief propagandist Joseph Goebbels. New Democracy released a snide statement saying Tsipras was merely cutting the ribbon of the opening at the Paros airport today, for which a number of pervious governments and people had worked hard to complete.
