Premier League club Arsenal are closing in on the signing of young Greek centre-back Konstas Mavropanos, from PAS Giannina FC.
Mavropanos has represented Greece at under-21 level and is highly thought of as one of Greece’s best prospects.
The 20-year-old broke into the Superleague side’s first-team towards the end of the season before cementing his place in the starting 11 this term, but has already attracted interest from Greek champions Olympiakos Piraeus and the Premier League side.
The Gunners are closest to signing him in the January transfer window due to their new chief scout Sven Mislintat, having close links with the player’s agent from his time at Borussia Dortmund.
The youngster underwent a medical examination in London on Tuesday, and it is expected that both Arsenal and PAS will agree on a fee, in the region of £2million or more.
It is expected that both Arsenal and PAS will agree on the transfer in the coming days.
