Greece at the top of luxury cruising and yachting

From 2021 and also in 2022, Greece is in the first position of operating large commercial vessels in the Mediterranean

Newsroom May 11 11:51

The development of luxury cruising and luxury yachting in Greece is a fact. The country is at the top of the market in the sector of marine tourism, offering remarkable services and amazing destinations in the island region, but also in the main inland destinations. These are yachts over 35 metres long with high standards and comforts.

From 2021 and also in 2022, Greece is in the first position of operating large commercial vessels in the Mediterranean, with traffic to Greek destinations reaching 24%. It is followed by France with 19% and then Italy with 17%.

A further improvement of the market is expected in 2023 as well since additional vessels are arriving for exploration in our country.

Recently, the 1st International Conference called “THE LUXURY SIDE OF GREECE” took place in Santorini on April 29 and 30, 2023 with special guest Mrs. Maye Musk, mother of the famous billionaire Elon Musk.

The specific market was analysed, as well as the available capacity and the future as shown in the diagram below in the full analysis of market capacity, ships, and berths for the specific market:

In addition, specific companies with luxury brands that plan cruises in the Mediterranean Sea, including Greece, were covered.

For the year 2023, a total of 53 ships will operate luxury cruises during the summer season to various destinations in the Mediterranean Sea including the Greek territory.

In addition, there are ships under construction to complement a fairly extensive Order Book for the luxury market. There are 29 ships in new constructions of various capacities but always of small size, but a maximum of about 900 passengers.
