Mitsotakis-Erdogan meeting concludes at NATO Summit – video (update)

The two men will talk about the current situation of Greek-Turkish relations and bringing talks on track

Newsroom July 12 12:39

Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Recep Tayyip Erdogan met for almost an hour on the sidelines of the NATO Summit in Lithuania, which was their first meeting after a long period.

Indicative of the positive atmosphere that prevailed is the fact that the meeting lasted about twice as long as planned – it was scheduled for half an hour and ended up lasting about an hour.

As can be seen in the video of the first minutes of the meeting, the atmosphere between the two delegations and between Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Recep Tayyip Erdogan was good.

Prior to the Mitsotakis-Erdoğan meeting, a one-on-one meeting was held between National Defence Minister Nikos Dendias and his Turkish counterpart Yasar Güler, with whom it was agreed that “Greece-Turkey communication will be arranged for a meeting on Confidence Building Measures activities.”

==========================================

The meeting between Greek PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is underway on the sidelines of the NATO Summit in Lithuania.

The two men shook hands before they sat down to talk: “We have a new government, Prime Minister, so we have a new team here”, Erdogan said.
Mitsotakis: “As do we. But I understand that our ministers have already met and started a good contact.”

As reported by protothema.gr’s correspondent George Eugenides, present at the Mitsotakis-Erdoğan meeting was the new head of MIT, Ibrahim Kalin, who congratulated the Greek Prime Minister on his re-election, who reciprocated with his own congratulations to the Turkish President’s close associate.
