With an excellent performance in the final, the national 4X100m mixed team placed fifth at the Doha World Swimming Championships, surpassing the sixth place of the men’s 4X100m freestyle last Sunday (11/2) for our country’s best finish in a team event.
Apostolos Christou (53.50 in the 100 fly), Arcadios Aspougalis (went slower than the morning with 1:01.22 in the breaststroke), Anna Dtounaki with a career-best 100 butterfly (56.88 with a flying start) and Nora Drakou (55. 09 in the freestyle, in her fourth race today) finished in 3:46.69 and have every reason to be satisfied with their performance, which – among other things – ensured their participation in the Olympics this morning.
The USA easily took first place with 3:40.22, winning the gold medal for the third time in the six events since the mixed “relays” were introduced to the programme in 2015.
