Faced with an unprecedented spectacle on Monday morning, policemen from the Special Police Force (SWAT) raided a hut in a mountainous area of Trikala, Corinthia, after a complaint that the 45-year-old owner set fire to a farm vehicle last Saturday.
Underneath the earthen house and the old caravan, in which the 45-year-old man lived with his wife and their four children, police found a 30-metre-long underground tunnel leading to a ravine.

At the same time, an entire arsenal consisting of seven improvised bows, 20 arrows, one improvised gun, four knives, one air rifle, 102 shotgun shells and 81 cartridges from an assault rifle were found in the house and in the 45-year-old’s car.
The hideout of the “cave men” was uncovered after a hunter reported seeing the 45-year-old set his pickup truck on fire last Saturday and then opened fire.
The 67-year-old reported the attack on him to the Xylokastro Police Station and the following day, police officers went to the 45-year-old’s hideout to arrest him.
