The center of Athens will be inaccessible today due to protest gatherings in the context of the 24-hour strike organised by GSEE, ADEDY, and PAME, with focus on austerity.

The movement of the public will also be obstructed due to the participation of transportation workers in the strike, with traffic police implementing regulations beginning from 9:30 in the morning.

Specifically, for 24 hours, the metro, electric railway, tram, suburban railway, and trains will be immobilised. According to an announcement by Hellenic Train, a number of routes will be operated by security personnel. Employees demand immediate hiring and work contracts against ‘the wave of austerity and the profiteering that affect the dignified living of millions of low-wage and low-pension workers.
