The Maximos Mansion and New Democracy are in full electoral swing with Kyriakos Mitsotakis planning visits within Attica and regional areas. All top members of the governing party, ministers, and members of parliament will give a strong appearance. During the PM’s recent visit to the municipality of Agios Dimitrios, in Athens he dismissed complacency and emphasised to Greek voters that June 9 elections must not be downplayed.
The electoral battle of the European election has shown that it directly affects domestic politics. On Friday, the Election Campaign Committee of New Democracy convened while Saturday morning a closed meeting was held at the Maximos Mansion with the participation of American strategist Stan Greenberg. Today, Mr. Mitsotakis will continue with his electoral campaign heading to the Vegetable Market in Agios Ioannis Renti following his interview for the Greek Morning show, Morning Coffee.
PM Mitsotakis will then convene a meeting with his top ministers at New Democracy’s offices to assign each member regions for the European electoral campaign.
Sources to protothema.gr indicate that 12 ministers have been added to the electoral battle, the Minister of National Defense, Nikos Dendias, will be responsible for Central Macedonia, the Minister of Health Adonis Georgiadis for Western Macedonia while Christos Staikouras is designated for Eastern Macedonia-Thrace.

The Minister of Finance, Kostis Hatzidakiswill be visiting Thessaly, the Minister of Development Kostas Skrekas will be campaigning in Epirus, the Minister of Social Cohesion and Family Sofia Zacharaki, will tour mainland Greece, the Minister of State Makis Voridis will head to the Peloponnese, and the Minister of Rural Development Lefteris Avgenakis will travel to western Greece. Moreover, the Minister of Labor, Domna Michailidou will be campaigning in the Aegean islands and the Dodecanese. The Minister of Tourism Olga Kefalogianni will visit the Ionian Islands, and the Minister of Migration, Dimitris Kairidis will head to the islands of the Northern Aegean, and the Minister of Education, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, will be touring in Crete.
Till now no one has been appointed to the Attica region. However, there is the possibility for last-minute changes by PM Mitsotakis.
The invitation extended to the Members of Parliament
Apart from ministers, ND members of parliament will also be active in the electoral race to fortify its campaign. On Wednesday afternoon MPs from the regions of the Peloponnese, Western Greece, and Epirus have been invited to the Maximos Mansion to discuss their presence in the electoral battle. A similar invitation is expected to be extended to MPs from other regions in the coming days within ND’s framework to fully mobilise its members in the coming European election.
