Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced a bonus for public servants alongside a message urging people to vote in the European elections

After salary and bonus increases taking effect as of 1/1/2024, the government will be proceeding towards increasing incomes for public servants

Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced in the ministerial council the special productivity bonus for public servants, which could reach up to 15%. In his proposal, he sent a message urging people to vote in the European elections, urging members of the ministerial council to work hard till June 9th. He also referred to the lies of the official opposition urging government members not to let them be an obsticle, especially with regards to its empty promises.

The government is promoting a significant shift to reduce the long periods for justice to be served. The same goal is by the bill for the Council of State proposed by the Minister of Justice. Where faster decision-making also has an economic impact. The new framework limits delays and assigned cases to specific judges to ensure accountability expressed PM Mitsotakis.

He went on to emphasise that the bill is a step towards a more functional state, and the same goal is served by the special productivity bonus that employees and departments can receive for achieving specific objectives explaining that the goal is to reward public servants who achieve or exceed set targets.

From the agenda of the ministerial council, Kyriakos Mitsotakis also referred to, A Greece for All initiative for people with disabilities presented by the Minister of State, Akis Skertsos, also noting that the selection of new administrations in the public sector is additionally progressing.

In this context, Kyriakos Mitsotakis stressed that the European elections will determine how strong and effective the voices of Greek interests in Europe will be, but to some extent, how stable the political scene will be so that Greece remains on a path towards progress, approaching Europe with certainty.

Continuing in the same spirit, the Prime Minister said, “We have an opportunity in the coming period, as there will be another ministerial council before the European elections on June 9th, therefore it is important to vote in these elections and to distance oneself from superficial choices.” The PM went on to epxress that ND speaks the language of truth and has opposed many obstacles in reference to evaluations with emergency interventions, but mainly with permanent increases in salaries and pensions.

PM Mitsotakis went on to talk about the new version of e-katanalotis operating, where by comparing prices with other supermarkets, the consumer will be able to choose the best price among 3,000 products. Only beneficiaries will be consumers, as greater transparency leads to greater competition.

It was stressed that the government stands by the citizen in every way, recognizing that accuracy remains the biggest problem facing Greek society and that everyone must be reminded of the significant steps being taken everywhere, from defense to immigration, measures against violence, the significant successes of the Hellenic Police to the economy, major projects, and the digitisation of the public sector.

The draft law for the productivity bonus in the public sector

The government plans to introduce a draft law from the Ministry of Interior aimed at boosting the incomes of public servants further. This regulation is expected to come into force in 2025, aimimg to incentivise greater productivity within the public sector and prevent employees from feeling overlooked. The productivity bonus will be tied to the performance evaluation system for public servants, which has been in place since 2023. Additionally, the Ministerial Council meeting agenda includes various presentations and proposals, such as the National Strategy for Persons with Disabilities, legislative initiatives in rural development and food management, and drafts of laws related to finance, justice, culture, development, education, tourism, and environmental protection.
