Current Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson and Paul Di’Anno, who originally held the same role in the band, met for the first time after Dickinson’s concert in Zagreb, Croatia, last week.
Dickinson was in Zagreb for a concert with his solo band as part of the tour promoting his new album “The Mandrake Project.” According to Paul Di’Anno’s manager, Stjepan Juras, the former Iron Maiden frontman coincidentally participated in an event for the debut album of his new band, “Paul Di’Anno’s Warhorse,” after Dickinson’s performance.
“When we thought that nothing could surprise us anymore in the world of heavy metal, tonight’s ‘miracle’ in Zagreb proved us all wrong,” Juras wrote in a press release. “Paul Di’Anno and Bruce Dickinson met for the first time ever and had a friendly conversation in Zagreb.”
“It was an excellent opportunity for the two heavy metal icons and legendary singers of Iron Maiden to meet for the first time in nearly half a century. It is a great night for the entire Iron Maiden community and metal fans worldwide because it shows that Iron Maiden and everyone who has been part of this band are one big family,” he added.
Stjepan Juras also recorded some brief footage of the meeting, which marks the first face-to-face encounter between the Iron Maiden singers in more than four decades since Dickinson replaced Paul Di’Anno in 1981.
Di’Anno had been facing serious health issues in recent years and nearly stopped performing live in 2020.
However, after creating the Warhorse project in 2021, he announced his return to the stage with the “The Beast Resurrection Tour,” aiming “to save his life and get out of the wheelchair,” as he clarified.
