Los Angeles Plans to Take the Olympic Torch from Paris with Star-Studded Lineup at the Closing Ceremony on Sunday, August 11.
Artists like the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Snoop Dogg, and Billie Eilish will perform from Los Angeles in a mix of pre-recorded and live performances.
Producer Ben Winston, who is experienced in live music events, including producing the Grammy Awards and CBS’s 2021 special “Adele: One Night Only,” is coordinating with the French producers of the Closing Ceremony, according to Variety.
Tensions are high regarding live concerts this week after authorities in Austria thwarted a terrorist attack plot during Taylor Swift’s planned three-day performance in Vienna as part of her “The Eras Tour.”
Sources from the organizers of the surprise concert in Los Angeles said that security and crowd control were already a concern for local police officials even before the troubling news from Vienna.
The concert venue remains undisclosed.
Security Concerns
Security will need to address potential threats from the air, land, and sea in Los Angeles. Due to heightened concerns, Variety is not disclosing the concert’s location.
At the end of the Closing Ceremony on Sunday, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass will receive the Olympic Flame and bring it back to the city as it returns from Paris. Starting next week, the city of Los Angeles will have three years and 11 months to prepare for the Summer Games, scheduled to take place from July 14 to July 30, 2028.
