In three boats, 76 migrants arrived Gavdos in the early hours, and landed with the help of fishermen on the island.
According to official information from the mayor Lillian Stefanaki, the immigrants are all in good health and at noon they will be transferred by the Line boat to Sfakia for the required procedures and from there to Chania for accommodation until their departure to a structure in Athens.
They are immigrants from Syria, Egypt, Sudan, Bangladesh, among them six minors and four women. The two boats arrived directly to the port of Gavdos, Karave, with the help of a fisherman, while the third boat was spotted by another fisherman in Tripiti and with his help, transported them with two routes also to the main port of Karave.
According to the mayor, “…this is the second time in the season that immigrants have arrived in Gavdos, but as we can see, Crete is the point they approach and this will continue to happen as long as nothing happens in their countries.”
