The fire that broke out Sunday morning in a wooded area in Xylokastro, Corinth, in which two men aged 35 and 40 died, is in remission.
As known by the Fire Department, 570 firefighters with 28 forestry teams and 160 vehicles, volunteers, volunteer groups of Civil Protection and water trucks and project machinery of the Peloponnese Region and the General Staff of National Defense, as well as forces of the Forestry Service and the Greek Police are operating at the site.
Six helicopters, including one for coordination, and four aircraft, including two from Italy and one from Croatia, are assisting from the air.
It is recalled that the General Secretariat for Civil Protection has activated the European Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM) with a request for air assistance to respond to the forest fires in Corinthia.
Specifically, the assistance to our country includes three CL-415 firefighting aircraft, two from Italy and one from Croatia.
