Three years have passed since the death of Fofi Gennimata

The late president of PASOK passed away today in 2021

Newsroom October 25 06:45

Today marks three years since the death of the death of Fofis Gennimata. Many PASOK executives and friends of PASOK, referred with emotion in their posts to the late president of PASOK, who passed away today in 2021.

The three-year anniversary of the death of Fofi Gennimata was referred to in a post by PASOK president Nikos Androulakis.

As he stresses, Fofi Gennimata may no longer be here, “but her personal and political model is here as an indelible legacy of strength, contribution, and struggle, but also as an inexhaustible source of inspiration for all of us in her party.”

A touching post on the 3 years since the death of Fofi Gennimata was made by her husband Andreas Tsounis.

“The battle that Fofi Gennimata fought to reunite the scattered pieces of PASOK at the four points of the horizon is well-known,” he noted in his post on his personal Facebook account, underlining that “she managed to give the kiss of life to a half-dead party when all the journalists’ first question was whether PASOK would enter the Parliament in the next elections.”

“All the time she was being shot at, she did not stop fighting for the resurrection of PASOK, at the same time fighting for her own life. The first battle she won, the second she did not”, he added in his post.

“Today marks three years since the death of the woman to whom all of us, from the President to the last member of PASOK, owe the existence of our party. She laid the foundations of PASOK’s return to power and now we look to the future with optimism. Greece owes it to her that she was the first and last Greek government minister to say no to a demand from the Troika and to spread the country’s defense industry during the rocky years of the memoranda. Her memory is eternal, may we all remember her well,” he concludes.

“Her example leads us…,” wrote Charis Dukas.

“Iphigenia did her duty. Let a fresh wind now blow on the sails of our party,” wrote Manolis Christodoulakis, accompanying his post with a touching video about the late president of PASOK.

Pavlos Geroulanos said in a post: “Much has been written about the legacy of Fofi Gennimata and much more will be written. But what I will always remember is the incredible courage that gave her the strength to continue the battle even under the worst conditions. The bravery she showed.”

“Three years ago today, Fofi Gennimata, a fighter of life and politics, passed away prematurely. Her contribution to today’s reborn image was decisive. She laid the foundations for the total restoration of the democratic party. She will always be a symbol of struggle, courage, and will to live,” PASOK press spokesman Kostas Tsoukalas wrote.
