The American forward/center donned the “Double-Headed Eagle” jersey for a period during the 1994/95 season, replacing Lemone Lampley. However, an injury sidelined him during the year, leading to Matt Bullard stepping in as his replacement. Despite this, he made a significant impact, particularly during his debut when he led PAOK to victory against Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Champions Cup (the precursor to the EuroLeague) with a score of 76-84, scoring 19 points and grabbing 8 rebounds.
Mustaf was selected 17th overall in the 1990 NBA Draft by the New York Knicks. During his NBA career, he played for both the Knicks and the Phoenix Suns. He later came to Europe to play for PAOK and also had stints with Andorra, Strasbourg, Barcelona, Paris, Prokom, and Altai.
PAOK expressed its condolences for Mustfa’s passing through their official Twitter account:
“We express our warmest condolences to the family of Jerrod Mustaf who passed away at the age of 55. Jerrod Mustaf played for #PAOK at the beginning of the 1994-95 season. R.I.P.”
