The Archbishop of Athens and All Greece Ieronymos was visited today at noon in the Holy Archdiocese by the New Democracy MEP Fredi Beleris, who, in a statement after the meeting, stressed that he visited the head of the Greek Church in order to express his gratitude for the Church’s long-standing support for the Hellenism of Northern Epirus, as well as “for his unconditional support when I was in Rama’s prison and I will never forget that when my candidacy was announced by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, he was the first person to accept my son and gave his blessing”.
For his part, Archbishop Ieronymos said: “I am happy and touched, because our efforts for a good cause, a good deed, to bring this result is a fruit of good will from many places. Personally, I felt that I had and have an obligation for such conduct. There are reasons of history and sympathy, we love our neighbour Albania very much.”
Fredi Beleris was accompanied by former Minister of State Stavros Papastavros and the candidate for mayor of Himara, Petros Gikourias, while the meeting was also attended by the director of the Press Office of the Archdiocese of Athens, Haris Konidaris.
