The First Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Roussos Koundouros, has submitted his resignation, citing reasons of official order and personal decency, for being omitted from the composition of the Greek delegation at the recent meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Greece and Türkiye.
As Koundouros notes in his letter of resignation, he was also omitted from the preparatory meetings for the meeting. He also notes that “as regards the development of relations between Greece and Türkiye it should be noted that the undersigned’s views were submitted in writing before the aforementioned meeting”.
In his letter, he also stresses that “for the sake of the general picture, I would add that there was no follow-up on several serious issues, in the signatory’s opinion, concerning Greek-Turkish and Euro-Turkish relations, which were submitted in writing.”
