His support for Greek-American Jimmy Patroni in the special election to be held in Florida to fill a vacancy in the House of Representatives has been expressed by Donald Trump.
The new U.S. president encouraged Patroni, the state’s current chief financial officer, to run for office in the election due to the resignation of former congressman Matt Gates.
In a post on the conservative platform Truth Social, Donald Trump praised Jimmy Patroni as a personal friend and supporter of the MAGA movement, noting that he would have his full support should he choose to run.
As he explained, the homegrown politician shares the same priorities related to economic development, border security, energy independence and the right to bear arms.
For his part, Jimmy Patronis responded enthusiastically to Platform X, saying “put me to work, Mr. President! I’m here to serve.”

If Mr Patronis decides to run and is elected, he will be the seventh Greek-American to serve in the new House of Representatives. As is well known, Congressmen Gus Bilirakis, Chris Pappas, Nicole Malliotaki, and Dina Titus were re-elected in the November election, with the Greek caucus being bolstered by Maggie Goodlender and Mike Haridopoulos who were able to get elected for the first time.
