HELLENiQ ENERGY renews and upgrades its cooperation with the Hellenic Paralympic Committee, with a view to an inclusive and non-discriminatory tomorrow. From now on, for the next four years, it will be the GOLDEN SPONSOR of the Committee, aiming at the further development of the Paralympic movement in our country and the formation of a more just and equal society for all.
As a Gold Sponsor, HELLENiQ ENERGY strengthens its support to the Hellenic Paralympic Committee, which it has been supporting continuously since 2018, while in 2021 it was declared a Major Sponsor. The official announcement for the renewal of the cooperation and the assumption of the category of Gold Sponsor by HELLENiQ ENERGY was made on Thursday, December 5, during a special event at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall, in the presence of the Group’s Management and the Paralympic Committee. Participants included Paralympians and other top athletes, representatives of the Government, Local Authorities and Organizations of the city, journalists, and numerous guests.
During his short speech, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of HELLENiQ ENERGY, Mr. Spilios Livanos, noted: “The upgrade of HELLENiQ ENERGY to Gold Sponsor of the Hellenic Paralympic Committee is not only an honor for us but also a deep commitment to the values of equality and inclusion.
We acknowledge the tremendous work of our athletes with disabilities, who through their transcendences overcome adversity daily to conquer new heights. HELLENiQ ENERGY’s new, upgraded relationship with the Hellenic Paralympic Committee is our “thank you” to these great athletes who are a special source of inspiration for everyone and show us the way to a society where diversity does not stand in the way, but is a source of strength and progress.”
For his part, the Deputy Minister of Sports, Mr. Yannis Vroutsis, stressed.
The State must lay a solid foundation for the development of the sports edifice, but it needs the partnership of the private sector for the sector to flourish. The executives and especially the Managing Director of HELLENiQ ENERGY, Andreas Siasmisi, deserve a lot of credit for their constant presence close to Sport – after all, EKO is the name sponsor of our legendary Acropolis Rally – and even more congratulations for raising awareness in the effort for equality and equity for athletes with disabilities.”
The President of the Hellenic Paralympic Committee, Mr. George Kapellakis, in his turn stated: “The presence of the Greek Paralympic Team in Paris was one of the most successful of all times both on and off the competition venues. In this course, we had HELLENiQ ENERGY by our side, which was more than a great sponsor for us. Not only in the qualification and preparation for the big Paralympic rendezvous.
Their people were by our side in the stands, experienced the agony of our athletes with us, and together we celebrated the successes of our team. Ahead of us, we have Los Angeles and the 18th Paralympic Games in 2028. A new Paralympic cycle has begun and as we used to say in sports, a winning team does not change. Hellenic Paralympic Committee and HELLENiQ ENERGY continue together for the next four years the very successful cooperation, to support the effort of the Greek Paralympic Team. I would like to personally thank HELLENiQ ENERGY and its CEO Mr. Andreas Siasisis, whom we now feel is a member of our Team as he gave us another gold, that of the Gold Sponsor for the next four years, on the way to Los Angeles.”
HELLENiQ ENERGY, with its multi-dimensional Corporate Responsibility program, is making a significant contribution to the promotion of sport and fair play among young people and people with disabilities. Through a series of actions aimed at promoting fair play and promoting sport as a healthy outlet, it highlights the great work of athletes with disabilities and Paralympians, paving the way towards a more inclusive and inclusive society.
In this context and on the occasion of the International Day for People with Disabilities, on 3 December, Hellenic ENERGY and the Hellenic Paralympic Committee organized the “Paralympic Panorama” at the “Ioannis Vellidis” Conference Centre. It was an educational and experiential activity in which more than 400 students from primary schools in the wider Thessaloniki area had the opportunity to get to know the Paralympic sports, to interact with distinguished athletes, and to understand the values of inclusion, acceptance, and diversity.
At the same time, stations were created to present 14 sports such as boccia, wheelchair basketball, athletics, taekwondo, archery, shooting, judo, golf, cycling, etc. in which students had the opportunity to learn about and actively participate in the sports. They also attended a special seminar by specialized nutritionists and were informed about the history of the Paralympic Games, the challenges faced by athletes, and how sport eliminates discrimination and at the same time is a healthy outlet for everyone.
It is worth mentioning that HELLENiQ ENERGY, on the occasion of the fact that 2024 was a Paralympic year, held numerous events to raise public awareness and, in cooperation with the Hellenic Paralympic Committee, undertook the implementation of targeted actions for the practical support of the Team that represented the country in the world’s largest event. The Group will continue to stand by the side of our athletes, whose ethos, perseverance, and patience confirm that “dreams have no limits” and are a shining example for society.
