Chancellor Olaf Scholz today praised the courage of Gisèle Pelicault, who requested that the trial against her husband, convicted for orchestrating her mass rape over several years, not be held behind closed doors.
“Shame must change sides. Thank you, Gisèle Pelicault!” Mr. Scholz wrote on X from his parliamentary account, echoing the victim’s own words.
“With courage, you moved from anonymity to the public eye and fought for justice. You gave women around the world a powerful voice. The shame is always the perpetrator’s,” the chancellor added.
