Vassilis Kikilias made a statement on the preparation of the state mechanism in view of the new wave of bad weather, expected from tonight (27/12) evening.
As he pointed out, heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected in Evia, Sporades, Cyclades, Dodecanese and Crete, but also dense snowfall in the mountains and semi-mountains of Eastern Macedonia and Euboea, in the mountains of Attica and in the semi-mountainous areas in the north of the prefecture, as well as in the mountains of Crete, while gusty winds of 8-9 Beaufort will blow in the Aegean Sea.
The Minister said that Civil Protection base stations with staff and project machinery from EMAK, the Armed Forces and the Regions in Martino, Malakasa, Afidnes, Vilia, Pascha, Madoudi and Aliveri will be in full readiness. For the regions of Central Greece, Attica and Eastern Macedonia and Thrace has been issued RED CODE, in order to have full mobilization of personnel and project machinery.
In addition, the ELAS will proceed with a ban on heavy vehicles from 10 tonight at 10 pm until 4 pm tomorrow on the National Road Athens-Lamia from Malgara to Kalyftaki and on the Old National Road Elefsina-Thebes.
Mr. Kikilias advised all citizens to be particularly careful and follow the instructions of the authorities, while for Evia, which will receive, according to the National Weather Service, most of the bad weather, a precautionary message will be issued this afternoon by 112.
