Customs inspectors from AADE struck another significant blow against smuggling, discovering 29 kilos of cocaine inside a shipping container loaded with bananas. The container originated in Ecuador and was destined for the port of Thessaloniki.
Specifically, AADE inspectors from Thessaloniki’s 1st Customs Office identified a suspicious organic substance during routine sampling checks, using a mobile x-ray scanner. The substance was found concealed within the refrigeration units of the container filled with fresh bananas.
The inspectors, in collaboration with ELAS, immediately confiscated the narcotics and informed the competent Prosecutor’s Office.
