The chilly cold will persist through mid-February with no particular weather patterns. EMF director Thodoros Kolydas shared the medium-term outlook for weather, talking about lasting winter temperatures, while stressing that the weather will be milder in the last ten days of February.
“Low temperatures for the season will persist into the middle of the month with localized, not significant, temperatures through the middle of next week. Later, and especially towards the end of the second ten-day period, the weather will become milder in terms of temperatures and there is a tendency for more phenomena from systems coming from the west,” writes Theodore Kolydas.
According to Forecast Weather Greece on Friday night, light snowfall occurred in the northern and eastern suburbs of Attica and in the western suburbs of Attica above 170 m altitude due to low humidity and negative dew point.
In a video posted on Facebook, it appears to be snowing in Hippocrates State, while there are reports of light snowfall in areas around Penteli and Parnitha.
Meteorologist Giorgos Tsatrafyllias called it a “marathon cold snap”. Speaking to Alpha, he said that from today Athens will wake up with a temperature of 6 degrees Celsius. As the meteorologist explained, there will be some snow in Parnitha today while the rest of the capital will be drizzling. Winter and low temperatures will remain in the country until the middle of the month.
Today’s weather
A few clouds are expected, which will be increasing in the eastern and southern mainland, in the Sporades, Cyclades and Crete, giving a few light local showers or sleet. Occasional snowfall is expected in the eastern and southern continental mountains, in the mountains of Evia and in the mountains of Crete. At night and early in the morning in the continental areas there will be frost.
The temperature will range in Western Macedonia from -7 to 4 degrees, in the rest of northern Greece from -4 to 8-9 degrees, in Epirus from -1 to 11-13 degrees, in the western and southern mainland from 0 to 12-14 degrees, in Thessaly and North Central Greece from -2 to 8-9 degrees, in the rest of the eastern continent from 0 to 9 degrees, in the Ionian Islands from 5 to 12 degrees, in the North Aegean islands from 2 to 8 degrees and in the rest of the Aegean islands and in Crete from 5 to 10-12 degrees.
In the Aegean Sea, northeast winds will blow with intensities of 6-7 Beaufort, with the exception of the Dodecanese where northwest winds will blow with intensities of 5-6 Beaufort and in Thermaikos where light winds are expected. In the Ionian Sea, winds will blow from the east with intensities of 4-5 Beaufort and locally 6 Beaufort.
In Attica we expect a few clouds, occasionally increasing mainly in the north and east with the possibility of a few light showers and some snow in Parnitha. Winds will blow northeast with intensities of 5-6 Beaufort. The temperature will range from 4 to 8-9 degrees Celsius.
In Thessaloniki we expect clouds. The winds will blow from variable directions with intensities of 2-3 Beaufort. The temperature will range from 2 to 7 degrees
The weather on Sunday (09.02.2025)
In the eastern mainland, the northeastern Aegean islands, the Sporades, Evia, the Cyclades, Crete and the Dodecanese clouds are forecasted, partly cloudy with some local rain. Light snowfall will occur in places in the mainland mountains as well as in the mountains of Evia and Crete.
In the rest of the country a few clouds, locally increased.
Winds will blow in the west east 4 to 5 Beaufort, in the east north northeast 5 to 7 and possibly in the Aegean Sea locally up to 8 Beaufort.
The temperature will not change significantly and will remain below normal for the season. In the central and northern regions it will reach 8 to 9 and locally 10 degrees Celsius, in the rest of the regions 11 to 13 and in some places in the Dodecanese and Crete 14 to 15 degrees Celsius. Frost will occur in places on the mainland in the morning and evening hours.

In the eastern and southern part of the country, clouds are forecasted to be partly cloudy with a few light local showers mainly in the south. Light snowfall will occur in places in the mountains of the mainland, Evia and Crete. In the rest of the country a few clouds will increase in the west and from the evening there will be rain, mainly in the northwest.
The weather will be more sunny in the northwestern part of the country, with the possibility of clouds and rain in the northwestern part of the country.
Winds will blow in the west east southeast 3 to 4 and from the evening in the Ionian Sea 5 Beaufort and in the east north northeast 4 to 6 Beaufort.
The temperature will not change significantly. Frost will occur in places on the continental areas in the morning and evening hours.
The weather on Wednesday (12.02.2025)
Cloudy weather with local rain and possibly sporadic thunderstorms is forecast in the west. In the rest of the country clouds in places with local showers mainly in the central and northern regions. Occasional snowfall will occur in the mountains of the mainland and Crete.
Winds will blow in the west southeast at 4 to 5 and gradually 6 Beaufort and in the east from the north with the same intensity.
The temperature will rise slightly in the west. Frost will occur in places on the continental areas in the morning and evening hours.
