Minister of Social Cohesion and Family, Sofia Zacharaki, has submitted to Parliament a legislative amendment aimed at supporting the demographic growth of Evros.
The provision includes financial aid of up to €10,000 for families who choose to settle permanently in the municipalities of Soufli, Orestiada, and Didymoteicho.
Specifically, according to the amendment, which is expected to be passed today by the parliamentary plenary, the beneficiaries of the program include both single-person and multi-person households. The financial aid is structured as follows:
- €10,000 for households settling in a village with a population of up to 500 residents.
- €6,000 for households settling in a village with a population exceeding 500 residents, with an additional €1,000 per minor child, up to a total of €10,000.
The financial support is paid in two equal installments, with the first disbursed immediately after the application’s approval and the second after one year of permanent residence in the relocation municipalities.
This initiative for Evros is part of a broader plan to support the region’s demographics, development, and reconstruction, with a total budget of €8 million.
