Stratos Dionysiou: His sons’ emotional moment watching a video of their late sister, Tasoula

Angelos, Stelios, and Diamantis Dionysiou were moved to tears as they watched an old video featuring statements from Tasoula Dionysiou, who passed away at the age of 53

Newsroom March 9 12:08

Some moments are so powerful they leave us speechless, filling us with emotions and memories of those we’ve loved and lost. Such a moment unfolded on the evening of Saturday, March 8, when the sons of the legendary Stratos Dionysiou—Angelos, Stelios, and Diamantis—were confronted with a deeply emotional surprise during their appearance on the TV show Parea.

The three brothers were guests on the show to discuss a theatrical performance dedicated to their late father’s life and legacy. However, they were caught off guard when the program aired a rare video of their beloved sister, Tasoula Dionysiou, who passed away in April 2012 at the age of 53.

As they watched their late sister speak about her relationship with their father and siblings, emotions took over. Angelos, Stelios, and Diamantis couldn’t hold back their tears. Stelios, visibly moved, could only utter the words, “You surprised us,” after the video ended.

A Touching Tribute to Tasoula

Before playing the video, host Giorgos Kouvaras addressed the three brothers, saying: “We felt that a tribute to Stratos could not be complete without including your beloved Tasoula, who left us too soon. The goal is not to make you emotional, but it’s inevitable. Even I feel moved, though I never had the chance to meet her. It’s incredibly touching to see someone who has passed speak so fondly about their father while all of you are here.”

Tasoula Dionysiou lost her battle with cancer at just 53 years old. Heartbreakingly, she never got to meet her much-anticipated grandchild, as her daughter was scheduled to give birth two months after her passing. Her death occurred exactly 22 years after that of her father, Stratos Dionysiou.

A Daughter Deeply Loved

Tasoula was the second of the four children Stratos Dionysiou had with Georgia Laveni. It is said that the legendary singer had a special bond with her, as she was named after his own mother, Stasa

In a rare interview, Tasoula had shared touching details about her relationship with her father:

“I used to wake him up with a kiss and a caress. He cared about us deeply and loved us all so much. He was a very affectionate father. He looked after us, and we respected him greatly. He cherished family and wanted us all to be together, especially during celebrations. When he was home, he wanted everyone gathered. My father was a very sentimental person, and that was reflected in his music.”

Though she preferred a life away from the public eye, Tasoula remained a constant support for her mother and had a strong, loving bond with her brothers. She lived in Thessaloniki, devoted to her family, always standing by their side.

A Loss That Left a Mark

Tasoula’s passing was a devastating loss for the Dionysiou family. Her absence was felt even more deeply as it coincided with the birth of her grandchild, a moment she had eagerly anticipated but never got to experience.

Some people may leave this world, but the love they leave behind never fades. And on that Saturday night, through a simple yet profound video, Tasoula was present once again—if only for a few fleeting moments—reminding her brothers of the unbreakable bond they will always share.
