Shortly before the formation of the new federal government, the future government partners (CDU/CSU, SPD) continued to lose the support of the citizens, while, on the contrary, the far right is gaining strength and even taking the lead.
According to a survey by the Ipsos Institute, the Christian Union (CDU/CSU) retreats to its lowest polling level in three years with 24% (- -5 from the March reading), with the Alternative for Germany (AfD) moving into first place with 25% (+3). The Social Democratic Party (SPD) remains at 15%, while the Greens follow with 11 (-1). The Left also sets a decade-long record with 11% (+1,) and the Zara Wagenknecht Alliance (BSW) is firmly on the 5% mark.
