A fire broke out in central Athens on the afternoon of Tuesday, April 29, prompting an emergency response in the Ampelokipoi district.
The blaze started in a fourth-floor apartment of a residential building located at the intersection of Fokidos Street and Mesogeion Avenue.
Twenty firefighters with five fire engines and an aerial ladder vehicle were dispatched to the scene and immediately began efforts to extinguish the flames. During the operation, a woman was rescued from the apartment. The moment she was lifted into the fire department’s vehicle was captured on video.

A short time later, the fire was brought under partial control. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire, which resulted in only material damage.
