Weather: Strong northerly winds also today – When the winds weaken

At 127 km/h the wind gust in Paximada Karystos on Tuesday - The forecast for the weekend

Newsroom April 30 08:23

The weather scene remains unstable as Greece continues to be affected by the strong combination of high pressure in the Northern Balkans and low pressure in the Eastern Mediterranean, resulting in the persistence of strong northeasterly winds in eastern mainland Greece and the Aegean.

According to Thodoros Kolydas, local gusty north winds in the Aegean Sea will persist over the next two days, as will localized showers in the east and south with relatively low temperatures for the season.

“From Friday and mainly in the coming weekend we will have a noticeable weakening of winds and a progressive rise in temperature across the country, with maximum values above normal levels, around 27 degrees Celsius,” the well-known meteorologist writes in X and presents a diagram.

“The diagram shows the 850 hPa (1500m) level often used to analyse temperature changes in the lower layer of the atmosphere. It is worth noting that the final temperature configuration at the surface is influenced by factors such as the presence or absence of clouds, as well as wind strength and direction,” the post concludes.

Marousakis: When do the winds subside

“With dangerous northerly winds persisting, the next two to three days will roll on with the unsettled weather now affecting the eastern and southern maritime coastal areas. From Friday onwards Spring returns with the northerly winds easing and the mercury rising considerably. A beautiful day to all!” writes Klearchos Marousakis.
