Two high-ranking Mexico City officials, associates of Mayor Clara Brougada, were attacked and killed in a central district of the capital, President Claudia Seinbaum announced.
At a daily briefing for reporters, Sheinbaum said the attackers were probably on a motorbike.
The victims were the mayor’s private secretary, Jimena Gusman, and an adviser, Jose Munyos.
“This is an unacceptable incident. We will give the mayor all the support she needs,” the president added.
A statement by Brugada posted on Platform X stressed that “there will be no impunity, those responsible will be arrested and face justice.”
