Angry protesters have attacked police officers with Molotov cocktails and other objects in Balimina, where for the second consecutive night riots have raged after a teenage girl was sexually assaulted by two Romanian teens in this Northern Ireland town.
Police say they are facing disorder in part of the town, which is about 45 kilometers from Belfast, urging people to avoid the area.
Security forces used water canons to repel the rioters, according to a video released by a Belfast Telegraph reporter.
Protests also took place in Belfast, where demonstrators blocked roads, according to reports cited by Reuters news agency.
At least 15 police officers were injured, some of whom required hospital treatment after being attacked on Monday.
Four houses were engulfed in flames. Doors and windows of homes and shops were also damaged.
On Monday, a court in the city of Coleraine charged two 14-year-olds arrested with attempted rape. The proceedings were conducted with the help of a Romanian-language interpreter, the BBC and the Irish Times reported.
