Weather: Hot and strong north winds – High fire risk in 17 areas

The maximum temperature yesterday exceeded 38 °C - The EMY forecast until Sunday

The next few days will pass in Greece will be with a lot of heat to the west and south, strong northerly winds further east and afternoon instability further north, according to Klearchos Marousakis.

According to OPEN’s meteorologist, today will be…dominated by sunshine, but in the afternoon there will be showers – which may develop into thunderstorms – in the northern mainland. Very strong northerly winds are expected in the Aegean and eastern continents, with temperatures approaching 34℃ – 37℃.

For his part, Thodoros Kolydas said in a post that “strong north winds of 6-7 Beaufort in the Aegean Sea will continue until Sunday, with normal temperatures for the season.”

High risk in seventeen areas on Wednesday (11/06)

High fire danger today (Wednesday (11/06) in seventeen areas of the country.

According to the risk forecast map issued by the Fire Brigade for today, the areas of Attica, Kythira, Corinth, Corinth, Argolida, Evia, Skyros, Lakonia, Boeotia, Cyclades, Lesvos, Chios, Psara, Samos, Ikaria, Crete, Karpathos and Kasos are at level 3.

The temperature on Tuesday 10/06/2025 remained at a high level for the season, mainly in Western Greece, with maximum values exceeding 38 °C locally. The highest maximum temperature was recorded at the weather station in Amfilochia and was equal to 38.8˚C.

Today’s weather

Generally clear weather is expected with local showers and thunderstorms in the midday and afternoon hours in the continental highlands.

The temperature will range in Western Macedonia from 12 to 29 degrees Celsius, in the rest of Macedonia and Thrace from 15 to 33-34 degrees Celsius, in Thessaly from 15 to 34 degrees Celsius, in Epirus from 14 to 33, in the rest of the mainland from 14 to 33-35 degrees Celsius, in the Ionian Islands from 18 to 32-34 degrees Celsius, in the Aegean islands and in Crete from 17 to 33-35 degrees Celsius.

The winds in the Aegean will blow from general northern directions with intensities of up to 5-6 and possibly 7 Beaufort. In the Ionian Sea the winds will be generally northwest, with intensities up to 3-4 and in the northernmost parts up to 5 Beaufort.

In Attica clear weather is expected. The winds will blow from northerly directions with intensities up to 4-5 and in the east of the prefecture locally up to 6 Beaufort. The temperature will range from 23 to 33-34 degrees Celsius.

In Thessaloniki, generally clear weather is expected. Winds will blow from various directions with intensities of 2-3 Beaufort. The temperature will range from 24 to 30-31 degrees Celsius.

The weather on Thursday, June 12

Generally clear weather with a few clouds, partly increasing in the afternoon – afternoon hours on the mainland, where there will be local rain and in the mountains isolated thunderstorms.

Winds will blow from the north, in the west 3 to 4, in the east 5 to 6 and in the Aegean Sea locally 7 Beaufort.

The temperature will not change significantly and will reach 35 to 36 degrees Celsius in the western mainland, 28 degrees Celsius in the Cyclades and 31 to 34 degrees Celsius in the rest of the country.

The weather on Friday, June 13

Generally clear weather with occasional clouds in the central and northern mainland in the midday – afternoon hours, when mainly in the mountains there will be local rain and isolated thunderstorms.

Winds will blow from the north, in the west 3 to 5, in the east 5 to 6 and in the Aegean Sea 7 Beaufort.

The temperature will drop slightly, mainly in the north.

The weather on Saturday, June 14

Almost clear weather with a few clouds and local rain in the mainland, mainly in the west, in the midday – afternoon hours.

Winds will blow from the north, in the west 3 to 4, in the east 5 to 6 and in the Aegean Sea locally 7 Beaufort.

The temperature will drop slightly further in the east.

Generally clear weather with a few clouds that will increase in the midday-afternoon hours in some places on the mainland and local rain in the west.

Winds will blow from the north, in the west 2 to 4, in the east 4 to 6 and in the southeastern Aegean Sea 7 Beaufort.

From the north to south-east and from the south-east to south-east to south-east, with a south-eastern direction and south-eastern sea breeze and north-eastern sea breeze. The temperature will not change significantly.
