The new Minister of Immigration and Asylum, Thanos Plevris, and the three new deputy ministers, Haris Theocharis, Giannis Andrianos and Christos Dermendzopoulos, arrived at the Presidential Palace shortly before 10am for their swearing-in ceremony.

The new minister and the three deputy ministers replace the resigned Makis Voridis, Dionysis Stamenitis, Tasos Hadjivassiliou and Giannis Boukoros.

Thanos Plevris spoke of “a lot of work”, stressing that “the main objective is to increase the return of illegal immigrants and the fight against illegal immigration”.

“Whatever policy is in a fair and strict direction will continue,” added the Minister of Immigration and Asylum.
