NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, during his meeting with senators in Congress in the United States, he warned China, India and Brazil not to continue doing business with Russia or they would suffer severe sanctions. The news came from Reuters, a day after Donald Trump announced new arms shipments to Ukraine and threatened to impose 100% secondary tariffs on buyers of Russian exports if a peace deal is not signed within 50 days.
As Rutte told reporters, “If you live in these three countries, particularly in Beijing or Delhi, you might want to consider it, because this could hit you hard. So please call Vladimir Putin and tell him that he should take the peace talks seriously, because otherwise this will hit Brazil, India and China massively.”
Republican US Senator Tom Tillis praised Trump for the tough measures against Russia, but stressed that the 50-day delay “worries him” as Putin will try to use those days to win the war or to put himself in a better position to negotiate a peace deal. Therefore, we should look at the current situation in Ukraine today, regardless of what happens in the next 50 days.
Mark Rutte stressed that Europe will find the money for Ukraine and that President Trump, will support that country with heavy weapons systems
Asked if long-range missiles for Ukraine are under discussion, Rute said: “There are many kinds of weapons, but we have not discussed it in detail with President Trump. This is now being worked out by the Pentagon.”
