Authorities search for the taxi taken by the mysterious woman with the stroller, shortly before the little girl was found dead in Palaio Faliro

Video shows the woman stopping at a kiosk with two minor children and a toddler in a stroller which is suspected to be the little girl - Five hours later the woman boards a taxi without the stroller - Investigations focus on the route she followed

Newsroom August 1 09:38

A taxi ride taken by a mysterious woman with a stroller is at the center of investigations into the death of a little girl whose body was recently found on Edem Beach in Palaio Faliro.

Surveillance footage shows the woman stopping at a kiosk with two young children and a toddler in a stroller—believed to be the girl later found dead. Roughly five hours later, new video captures the same woman with the two children, but this time the stroller is empty.

Authorities are urgently trying to trace the woman’s movements and identify her. According to evidence gathered so far, the woman is believed to have boarded a taxi early the next morning, after her visit to the kiosk, along with the two children—without the stroller. Investigators are attempting to track the route of the taxi and locate the driver, hoping to obtain crucial information.

A detail that drew attention is that in the second video, the woman appears to be wearing her dress inside out—possibly indicating she dressed in a hurry, perhaps on the beach, to flee the area quickly.

At the same time, a photo published yesterday by protothema.gr, which is believed to show the little girl found dead early Sunday morning, raises serious concerns. The child is seen wearing a hat—despite the fact that it was 9:30 p.m.—her face is covered, and her posture in the stroller suggests that at best, she was asleep. Authorities also consider the possibility that the girl suffered from a metabolic disorder—as determined by the coroner—and the prolonged heatwave may have significantly affected her condition.

One theory being examined is that the child’s deteriorating state could explain why the woman, possibly the mother, took the children to the beach at night. Notably, only the child in the stroller is seen wearing a swimsuit.

The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities racing against time to clarify what happened, identify the mysterious woman, and determine the circumstances leading to the child’s tragic death.
