New details are emerging about the couple found dead in an apartment in Neos Kosmos, with gunshot wounds.

The man sustained head and chest wounds, and the woman was found face down on a bed, with authorities believing there was a murder and then a suicide.

It appears that the 74-year-old man shot and killed the woman and then ended his own life, as the death between the two has a temporal distance since the woman’s body was in advanced decomposition compared to the man’s.

A shotgun and two shell casings were found at the scene.

A resident of the apartment building described how police were called and the gruesome discovery of the two bodies was revealed, while a neighbor said the woman was very sick and her husband was very distressed. Police revealed that there was no history of domestic violence between the couple.

What neighbours of the couple say

The strong smell coming from the couple’s apartment caused neighbours to alert the police.

“There was a light that hadn’t been turned off for days. On Monday, it started to smell really bad, and we thought maybe something was wrong with the grandparents. My husband called the manager and he called the police and they found them. The woman didn’t get out much, just the man. I didn’t realize she was sick. They say the man killed the woman and then killed himself,” said a neighbor of the couple.

Another woman living at the scene said, “As far as we know, a couple was living on the fourth floor. The gentleman was in his 70s, and his wife was very ill, and he was very distressed.”

There was no history of domestic violence between the couple

The ELAS issued a statement regarding the 74-year-old man and his 88-year-old wife, who were found Thursday afternoon in advanced decomposition in the apartment they were staying in Neos Kosmos.

The couple sustained gunshot wounds, specifically the man in the head, while the woman, who was found face down in bed, had a chest wound. According to the statement of the National Police, the gun was found in the same place as the bodies, while two shell casings were found next to them.

At the same time from the ELAS noted that from the investigation so far, there is no history of domestic violence for this couple.

“In the afternoon hours of today, Thursday, September 4, 2025, the bodies of a woman and her husband were found by police officers in an apartment in the area of Neos Kosmos.

Both suffered fatal wounds from a firearm, which was found in the same area, and two shell casings were found next to them.

A medical examiner was called to the scene, and the relevant prosecutor was also informed about the case.

The police were also informed, and the Attorney General’s Office was informed.
The investigation so far has not revealed any history of domestic violence for the couple in question.
