Sixteen years of waiting finally came to an end. The Greek National Team climbed back onto the EuroBasket podium, winning the bronze medal after their victory over Finland in Riga. Leading the moment—and the star not only on the court but also in the locker room—was, of course, Giannis Antetokounmpo.
With 30 points and a commanding presence, the “Greek Freak” carried Greece to this historic achievement, bringing joy and pride to the entire country.
The party begins in the locker room
The real celebration, however, started after the game. In the locker room, Giannis was the first to burst in and launch an “epic” Instagram live, streaming the incredible scenes of jubilation to thousands of viewers.
“Where am I going, bro? I don’t want the national team to end!” he was heard saying, filled with emotion and joy, showing how precious every moment with the team was. The live was filled with music, laughter, and spontaneity, while Antetokounmpo appeared happier, more carefree, and more “fired up” than ever.
“Thank you for everything these two years we’ve been together. For me, we had an incredible tournament. We didn’t just win a medal, we played amazing basketball. I wish you an amazing season with your clubs. I will always be by your side, both as a coach and as a friend,” said Vassilis Spanoulis, before being “drowned” in champagne by his players.
Giannis as the DJ
The national team’s star took over as DJ, blasting tracks by Light and LEX, with the former having previously dedicated a song to the “Greek Freak.” The party peaked with “Alitiki Agapi” and the legendary “As Kratisoun oi Horoi” by Savvopoulos, as the celebration turned into an endless feast.
Viral moments and teammates’ showtime
Kostas Sloukas seized the opportunity to put on his own show, appearing with just a towel wrapped around his waist and leading the other internationals into dancing and laughter. His image went viral within minutes.
The party wouldn’t have been complete without Giannoulis Larentzakis and the traditional slaps from his teammates—a habit that began in the friendly matches of preparation and has now become a ritual.
Giannis Antetokounmpo even played matchmaker, joking about the also half-naked Tyler Dorsey: “He’s single and ready to mingle.”
Vinícius Júnior’s fire emojis
Antetokounmpo’s live also caught the attention of international stars. Among the thousands of viewers was Real Madrid’s Vinícius Júnior, who reacted with four fire emojis, showing his excitement at the spectacle.
