On Wednesday night, the medium-scale readiness exercise of the Hellenic Armed Forces was completed, carried out unexpectedly following the order of the Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff (HNDGS), General Dimitrios Choupis.
The purpose of the exercise, which aimed to test the readiness of the military forces in crisis situations, included the recapture of a rocky islet — a scenario considered particularly demanding for the Hellenic Armed Forces.
The operation focused on an island under the responsibility of the Supreme Military Command of the Interior and Islands (ASDEN).
The exercise was observed by the Chief of the HNDGS, accompanied by the Chief of the Hellenic Navy, Vice Admiral Dimitrios–Eleftherios Kataras HN, the Chief of the Hellenic Air Force, Lieutenant General Demosthenis Grigoriadis, the Commander of ASDEN, Lieutenant General Dimitrios Vakentis, and the Commander of the Special Warfare Command of the HNDGS, Lieutenant General Georgios Manouras.
